Turbine vs. Propeller Fuel Economy Comparison
During recent performance tests, the American Turbine turbinedrive consistently
outperformed its sterndrive competitors in fuel economy.
In head to head competition conducted by a leading pleasure craft manufacturer,
the American Turbine built turbinedrive produced amazing results in fuel
consumption. Throughout the testing, all variables such as boat weights
(3,051 lbs), fuel-on-board (2/3 tank), and passengers (two), were held
constant. Therefore the results are extremely accurate.
The manufacturer concluded their testing by stating, "This test clearly
shows that production turbinedrives can equal and surpass present sterndrives
fuel efficiency and acceleration."
Previously, American Turbine has been noted for its world record setting
performances in drag boat racing; now, they also prove that they can perform
economically without sacrificing horsepower.
